Our History ::

HDI Family Counseling, LLC is a social service agency serving Northwest Indiana and surrounding Illinois communities. We were initially established in 2001 doing business as Higher Dimensions, Inc. In 2003, the agency entered into its first contract with the State of Indiana and the Department of Child Services (DCS) {formerly Division of Family & Children (DFC)}, providing counseling and supportive services to at-risk children and their families. In 2009, the agency reorganized and is currently doing business as HDI Family Counseling, LLC (HDI).

Founder/CEO LenDora Hawkins’ extensive background and work history include: Counselor and Social Worker with Mental Health and Vocational Rehabilitation patients; Caseworker with Lake County DFC in the areas of Eligibility, Food Stamps, and Child Welfare; frontline and mid-level supervisor with DFC in Public Assistance, Impact and Child Welfare; therapist with a mental health center and a private mental health practice, before establishing HDI.

LenDora Hawkins serves as the CEO/Clinical Director at HDI. Her training and education include: Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology, Master’s Certificate in Public Management, Master of Social Work, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Certified Substance Abuse Counselor, Certified Cognitive Behavioral Therapist, Certified Clinical Substance Abuse Supervisor, with certifications in Crisis Intervention, Mediation Training, and Christian Marriage Counseling.
